Coastal Poppies captures a hillside of California poppies blooming along the coast, their brilliant orange and yellow petals set against the cool blues of the water and distant hills.
Expressive brushwork gives the grasses and flowers a sense of movement, while the simplified forms of the coastline and sky create a strong contrast with the vivid poppies in the foreground. The painting celebrates the distinctive color and energy of a coastal spring landscape.
